SSE Students Clean Up Kenting!
date : 2017-05-10
During the long Memorial weekend, Tunghai University International College Sustainability Science and Engineering (SSE) students gave back to the community by cleaning up Baisha Bay (白沙灣) in Kenting. Between February 27-28, SSE students labored for hours under the sun and collected heavy bags of garbage. Freshman Brad Lin emphasizes the importance of keeping trash off the beach and out of our beautiful oceans, commenting, “While we were cleaning, we found many weird types of garbage, like balloons, and it was very disgusting and smelly.” Along with Brad, fellow freshmen Amanda, Nicole, Sabina, Joe, Roy, Anita and Doris helped plan and lead the event. Aside from the cleaning, the SSE students also took this opportunity to enjoy the sand and sunshine, partaking in beach-side activities before heading back to Taichung. The trip was a great bonding experience as well as a chance for the students to put what they had learned in the classroom into action.
