The Interdisciplinary Degree Program (IDP) offers a 1+3 program: one year of intensive Chinese courses and English-taught general and elective courses, followed by three years of study in a major (subject to eligibility) from partner departments:

International Business Administration (English program), Sustainability Science and Management (English program), Hospitality Management, Food Science, Senior Wellness and Sports Science, Music, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Public Management and Policy, Environmental Science and Engineering, Smart Computing and Applied Mathematics, Life Science, Statistics, Business Administration, and International Business.

Also, IDP and the Department of Industrial Design offer a 1+4 program.

Students who meet eligibility requirements in the second semester of the first year may apply for placement into a partner department. Admission is determined independently by each department based on its own criteria. Students may list multiple preferences; however, quotas are limited. Students who do not apply for or are not admitted to placement may remain in IDP and complete their degree with a minor.

  1. A unique Chinese program to improve the communication and expression skills as well as strengthen the listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  2. To guide to explore the interests and develop an interdisciplinary learning ability.

  4. Interaction with Global Leaders from International Corporation and Successful Private Entrepreneurs that Lead to Internships and Jobs upon Graduation.

Welcome to the Interdisciplinary Degree Program (IDP).

Choosing to study abroad in a new language is both an exciting opportunity and a meaningful academic commitment. Our 1+3 program is designed to support you throughout this journey, helping you build the language skills and academic foundation you need to thrive in Taiwan.

During your first year, you will receive intensive Chinese language training while taking English-taught general education and elective courses. This combination allows you to strengthen your Chinese proficiency, explore different academic fields, and develop the skills needed for interdisciplinary learning and intercultural communication.

After your first year, you will have the opportunity to continue your studies in a field that matches your interests and goals. Upon acceptance, you will begin your major studies in your sophomore year and continue toward a bachelor’s degree in your chosen field.

Our interdisciplinary approach gives you the flexibility to explore your interests before choosing a major, while our faculty and staff are here to support you throughout your academic journey. We encourage you to approach this experience with curiosity, openness, and determination.
