New Student Clubs Impulse and ICEPAC

date : 2017-06-02

This semester, the IC is proud to announce the founding of two new student clubs, a student-run magazine, Impulse, and the International College Environmental Protection Action Coalition (ICEPAC). Junior Tanya Tung will act as Impulse first ever Editor-in-Chief, working alongside fellow juniors I-Ta Lu and Momo Hsiao, who will act as Content Editor and Artistic Director, respectively. With a team of enthusiastic student writers, photographers, and designers, and the first issue cryptic theme has to do with ferns. The IC looks forward to seeing what Impulse has in store for its publication scheduled at the end of April. Anyone interested in learning more about Impulse, or on how to contribute, can contact either the mentors or Tanya for more information.

Other than having a cool name, ICEPAC has some pretty exciting plans in store for the semester as well. So far, students have played around with ideas for reforestation, air quality improvement, conscious food consumption, reducing waste in cafeterias, promoting sustainable products on campus, and cleaning up Tunghai Pond. Dr. John Perez, who teaches Introduction to Sustainable Science and Engineering, Basic Sustainability Projects, and Trends in Global Ecology and Environmental change, will act as the club faculty adviser. While there will be a President and Vice President to run the meetings, students in the club will have the opportunity to organize and run their own events, increasing the number of projects and hopefully engaging more members of the IC community to volunteer and participate in saving the planet. For more information on what ICEPAC is up to, or how to get involved, check out their Facebook page or email the mentors.
