2023 International College Open Campus

Last week, the IC opened its doors to over 100 high school students for Open Campus. Visiting students had the opportunity to interact with current IC Students and staff, and also got a chance to see the Christmas decorations. The students were welcomed by Dean Sims and IBA and SSM Department Heads, Dr. Yevvon and Dr. Chuang respectively.

Dr. Troy then took the stage for a mini IBA sample lecture. The topic of her speech was about personality testing and its role in the job application process. Dr. Troy gave the students a “Big 5” personality quiz, where each statement had an option of Agree – Neutral – Disagree. Their responses to the questions would determine the Big 5 aspects of their personality: extraversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. After Dr. Troy concluded her lecture, Dr. Omar took center stage with his lecture about the Circular Economy. The Circular Economy is basically how we can reuse items to create new products in a sustainable way. Dr. Omar presented many recent innovations that are giving society hope to end our wasteful habits. Most notably, an edible water bottle where water is enclosed in a seaweed awed students and staff alike.

At the end of the day, students had the chance to talk with IC students or staff, take photos, and get answers to any questions they had about the lectures or life on campus.
