The International College at Tunghai University is excited to announce the arrival of three new members to its faculty and staff for the start of the 2018-2019 school year, in addition to the appointment of Dr. James Sims as the new Vice Dean of the International College. In following the college’s commitment to providing a multicultural, innovative, interdisciplinary education for all of its students, the school welcomes the diversity and leadership that the following four individuals bring to its community.
Dr. Hsiao-Fan Wang joins our college as the new Dean of the International College. Dr. Wang earned her Ph.D. in Operations Research (Network Analysis) at Cambridge University in England. Her research focuses on optimization, digital human modeling, and green supply chain management. Dr. Wang’s wide range of experiences including, but not limited to, serving as Vice President of the International Association of Information and Management Science, Mentor at Chen-Zeng High School, and CIIE Fellow (ROC) strengthens the International College’s leadership team.
Dr. Annie Y. Tsai joins the International College faculty as a professor and as the new Dean of the Office of International Education & Programs. Dr. Tsai earned her Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Psychology at Stanford University. Before joining the International College, Dr. Tsai served as a professor and administrator at Azusa Pacific University and holds years of experience as a research consultant for several international organizations. Her areas of research expertise are in psychology as well as culture and internalization.
Dr. Cara Lin Bridgman joins the college as assistant professor in the Sustainability Science & Engineering Program. Dr. Bridgman earned her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Her research focuses on ecology, conservation biology, population biology, and Mikado pheasants, as well as writing and editing.
Dr. James Sims will serve as the new Vice Dean of the International College after years of experience working at the college. Dr. Sims earned his Ph.D. in Multilingual/Multicultural Education: Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from Florida State University. He has amounted years of prior experience at the International College as the Director of the International Business Administration (IBA) Department, Director of the English Language Center, Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature Department, among others. Dr. Sims’ research focuses on second foreign language, foreign language learning, and language assessment.
